oriagbene medical camp dec 2005
The first regular camp in this community in which New Foundations now works

Child with marasmus ( severe form of undernourishment associated with chronic illness, or
certainly in this community, poor diet and poor lactation in the mother)
we arrived ogriagbene on the 20th of Dec with a very enthusiastic crowd to control,i had to use untrained community volunteers since this was a new community and so that they would also have a feel of community service, besides our new hcw were kilometers away and that would mean volumes of litres of fuel if they are to be present In all the two days were quite interesting, over 279 cases were seen during this period with .over 70 percent treated for malaria,a case of severe anaemia was seen but unlike most cases seen in this areas who seek late medical care, this one survived, another interesting case seen was a case of marasmus, this you will also see in the pics. the highlight of all these was 2am of the 21st when i was woken up to see a young woman of 22yrs who had suddenly collapsed,i arrived there to save her from loc! al tba,s and other who were about to put her to death, one oof them had almost bitten of one her big toes with the aim of bringing her back to conciousness,i finally ordered she be carried to where i stay so she be given proper treatment, she recovered from her slumber the next morning, you can see us attending to her on a table,i praise GOD she did not die,you should have seen the gratitude on thier faces when she recovered, they were of course so disappointed when we were taking our leave with a promise to be back again this is just a summary of all that took place
