Corn starch and river water, no vaccinations

The Niger Delta has ample food to support its population, carbohydrates from cassava and plantain, protein from beans, fish, clams, eggs, and meat. Fruit and vegetables are readliy available. Sadly education is less available about how these food groups should be used.

Consequently infant mortality is high, uptake of vaccinations poor and maternal health ignored.

Two studies we conducted supported our observations in the region :

Two community studypdf

Ogriabene community nutritional studypdf

Every week we run a nutritional talk that labours on the need for good a good maternal diet,

breast feeding and the use of foods from each food group.  Rose is a born performer and runs the sessions like a veteran stand-up!
