Patient Triage
Eye Care Health Initiative is a local NGO involved in bringing eye care to the community.Amongst its objectives is the provision of free cataract surgical services to underserved areas of the Niger Delta in Delta State, and the training of primary health care workers in eye health.
To this end a New Foundations Health Care Worker is to trained in eye care under their auspices. New Foundations supports the work of this NGO and we work together on regular eye camps in the communities in which we are based.
Since 2005 there has been a series of collaborative camps , Nigerian led,
including the following organisations.
- AM project / NDDC
- Prohealth /NDDC
- I Care project
- Delsopadec (Delta State Oil Producing Area Development Commision)
Collectively since 2005 around 560 cataract surgeries have been undertaken and 160+ further eye operations, and we see this partnership as an important part of our work
